Yikes. The date being December 20th really hits home just how close we are to this danged holiday. It’s just so danged close! And we’re all going to do our danged best to celebrate the dang out of it. I know I don’t need to type these intros, but here I am and here you are and here we are. Dang!
Today’s song - one of the last! - is The Futureheads’ song “Christmas Was Better in the ‘80s.” I actually don’t remember if this was true considering my last Christmas in the ‘80s happened when I was five. I basically have four permanent memories from the ‘80s and none of them are Christmas. I have more permanent memories of Taco Bell in the 1980s than I do of Christmas.
Still, the song is a great ode to the childhood joy of running downstairs to open gifts on Christmas morning. We didn’t have stairs as a kid, so I always thought it was fancy other kids could do that. We more ran a few feet down a short hallway.
Song!
