Now Christmas is too close. It’s getting real. You’re looking at the gifts you bought for loved ones and hope it shows them you love them. You may not always say it. You may not always show it. But you love them. Or, at least, you have to exchange gifts with someone you work with and don’t know well.
Today’s song is the eternally cheerful “Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis” from the eternally cheerful Tom Waits. We can discuss nomenclature and correct terminology for jobs, but at the very least this song captures a lot of the feeling of despair and worry around Christmas. People live their lives, man.
This is song is a real showstopper around the holidays in that it often stops the show when everyone hears it.
