Hey, folks! How is everyone?
Some news! I may have mentioned that I’m writing a book of funny essays about video games. Well, while you’re waiting for that, I’ve got another book that’s coming out sometime soon. It’s a silly, short novelization of one of the weirdest / not-great games ever made, “Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties.”
I would normally just include a link to the tweet, but since that fucking nightmare site is slowly turning to dust, I figured it was just better as a screenshot. I don’t need the annoyance, you don’t need the annoyance.
Anyway, you might be asking why anyone would re-release this game. Think of it like Plan 9 From Outer Space. The weirdness supersedes the badness and turns it into something fascinating. Plus, now I’m involved so I wouldn’t mind if you gave it a shot. The game (and book) should be available for pre-order from Limited Run Games in September. You can just read the book and I’ll still like you just as much.
Looking for some white hot takes on video games written by an idiot? That’s good. That’s real good. Because I have some recent articles you might like or not like, depending on your mood.
In one column, I listed everything you’ll need to do before Baldur’s Gate 3 comes out. It’s more on the batshit side of things, so hopefully you enjoy it.
Don’t like that? Want something a little more substantive? I wrote about how a meditation app on PlayStation VR 2 ended up stressing me out and making me sad.
If you’re looking for a cheap, short game you might like, I wrote about a $2 Switch (and Steam) game that has inexplicably become my favorite horror title of the year.
And back to weird and dumb and goofy, I wrote a column about how to fix Final Fantasy. Some fans took this seriously and yelled at me. Life is fun.
That’s all for now!
I hope everyone has a great weekend and a great week and the rest of your life is satisfying, even though it could end at any moment.
Heard about this game from AVGN. I will definitely get a book you wrote about it. And the other book you’re working on too.
