Hello! Hi! It’s Monday! You want a cheap game? How about a completely free game that doesn’t suck?
I haven’t had quite enough time to dive in as deeply as I’d like, but so far this seems kind of crazy good? It’s a free open world RPG made by one of the creators of Fable, Dene Carter. It’s designed to look like old Ultima games - a series that I’ve always appreciated but was born just too young to actually enjoy. But it’s nice! The game has a retro style but uses colors in a sort of Baba Is You way to give it a more modern feel.
It’s all very retro indie. But we love retro indie here, folks.
And, again, it’s free. Intentionally free. The creator basically said he decided to make it and give it away because times are rough for people right now. I’m not exaggerating. Dene Carter said, “Life is hard, Covid sucked, everyone’s poor and stressed, I don’t need the $300 this would make me: I’d rather take the goodwill.”
This is a free game made by a nice person.
So far, I can tell you this game is far more complicated than its price would suggest. Obviously, it would be literally impossible for this to be a money grab. But, also, this is a full fucking game. This isn’t a short little experience for goofs and laughs. It’s hard. The game clearly wants you to spend real time messing around and figuring out how it works. Which, again, is crazy for a game that’s free.
Look. I’m a busy man. Moonring is an open-world RPG and it’s free. If you don’t take that as a chance to get it, I can’t help you anymore.
